Abstract: Ecofeminism is a philosophical and literary approach that interconnects the exploitation of women and the environment, asserting that the domination of nature and the oppression of women stem from the same patriarchal roots. This research paper explores the ecofeminist dimensions in the novels of Sara Joseph, a prominent Malayalam writer and activist, whose works resonate with themes of ecological degradation, women’s suffering, and resistance against oppressive structures. The study pays special attention to her translated novels, which act as cultural bridges, making her narratives accessible to a wider readership. Through a detailed analysis of her major works, including The Scent of the Other Side, Gift in Green, The Vigil, and Budhini, the paper examines how Joseph portrays the intricate relationship between women and nature, representing both as victims of systemic exploitation yet as sources of resilience and transformation. The research further highlights the challenges and significance of translation in preserving ecofeminist sensibilities. This paper ultimately argues that Joseph’s narratives are powerful voices of resistance that challenge environmental destruction and gendered oppression, offering an ethical vision for harmony and sustainability.
